The Qin Terracotta Warrior and
Horse Figures: was discovered in 1974. There are
three vaults housing the figures. The largest is
No.1 Pit with 6,000 life-size terracotta warrior
and horse hands. Animately modeled, magnificent
and powerful wit real weapons in their hands,
they are arranged is neat formation. |

The Hauqing Pool: located at 25km northeast
of Xian. It is famous for its hot springs since
ancient times. The rebowned Huaqing Palace was
built here. Emperor Xuan Zong of the Tang Dynasty
and his concubine Yamg Gulfel used to take baths
in the pool. Bow hot spring bathrooms are
surrounded by secluded beautiful scenery. On Mt.
Lishan are Zhuojiangting (the pavilion where
Chiang Kai-Shek was arrested in the famous Xian
incident in 1936) and many other scenic spots and
historical sites. |

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda: four
km, south of Xian, the pagoda was built in 652
A.D. At the famous monk Xuangzang's suggestion to
preserve the Buddhist scriptures he brought back
from India. 64 meters high, with seven tiers in
the shape of an eloganted square pyramid, it is a
masterpiece of Buddhist architecture in China. |

The Forest of Steles: built in
1090 A.d., it is an important component of
Shaanxi Museum with more than 2,000 stone
tablets, including the Stone Scripture of the
famous 13 Classics of the Tang Dynasty and the
tablets inscribed by the well-known calligraphers
Yu Shinan, Chu Suiliang, Yan Zhenqing and Li
Gongguan. It is a treasure house of the Chinese
classics and a\calligraphy with a great number of
famous steles. |
